Curator's Note:

As an artist myself, I am deeply familiar with the creative process – the solitary journey of translating vision into form. However, stepping into the role of curator for “Random Reveries” presented a distinct challenge and a profound privilege. It has been an enriching experience to champion the artistic voices of Bidhata KC, Kurchi Dasgupta, and Pramila Bajracharya, three remarkable women who have dedicated their careers to exploring the complexities of Nepali society.

This exhibition transcends the concept of a mere showcase of three artists, three visions, and one conversation that invites viewers to engage with the social and cultural contexts that shape contemporary Nepal, as reflected through the distinct artistic lenses of each featured artist.

Bidhata KC's connection to nature translates into mesmerizing anatomy and characteristics of leaves from nature, while Kurchi Dasgupta's bold works delve into social commentary, particularly the impact of urbanization and the lived experiences of women. Pramila Bajracharya's exploration of femininity and urban spaces unfolds through attractive figurative pieces. Though their artistic expressions differ, they converge in their unwavering dedication to exploring the complexities and beauty of contemporary Nepali life.

“Random Reveries” exemplifies Bikalpa Art Center's unwavering commitment to fostering a vibrant ecosystem for Nepali contemporary art. We believe that these exceptional artists, and countless others like them, deserve recognition on a national and international stage.
