Introducing Interns, Palistha Maharjan & Sandip Dhami

Let us introduce two of our interns who have recently joined BAC team to support in multiple areas (exhibitions, media management, documentation and promotion). They are Palistha Maharjan and Sandip Dhami both from Nepal. They are both graduate students of media and IT looking into artistic exploration in their careers. We hope this internship will help them have a better understanding of arts, culture, and the creative industry in general. We would like to wish them a successful learning experience throughout the course of their internship at BAC

Palistha Maharjan (Lalitpur, Nepal)

Palistha Maharjan hails from Kathmandu, coming from a line of families who are one of the original settlers of the valley. She is a student of Computer Application at Ojaswi College and is a passionate admirer of art and culture. She wants to create a career in UI/UX designing and wants to put effort into helping people benefit the most from technology.  Apart from academics, Palistha loves to step outside into nature and travel as much as she can. 

She joined Bikalpa Art Center to exercise her passion for creativity, to engage in a creative growing process in the close vicinity of like-minded people. Her role as an intern includes communications and marketing where she has to constantly engage in conversation with artists, collaborators and visitors. Talking to people is very exciting, you learn a lot and you come to understand a person closely even when you have only briefly conversed with them. Her role extends to producing creative and engaging content for the social media platforms of BAC. Palistha expects to learn as much as she can about the creative industry of Nepal and hopefully find a balanced path to utilize her academic qualifications in cultural and creative organizations. 

Sandip Dhami (Bardiya, Nepal)

Sandip Dhami’s roots will take you far to Bardiya district of Nepal. He is a student of Business Administration at Islington College in Kathmandu. His deep interests lie in visual arts. Visual arts are the form of contemporary with most potential, you can express almost anything through animations, filmmaking and video games. 

Sandip joined Bikalpa to closely observe artists, their process of art creation and find inspiration in his own creative journey. Sandip always has his digital tools at his disposal to create visual content. His role as an intern includes creating posters, and infographics, and editing audio-visual content. His duties extend to ground assistance and background research to help organize various art activities and programs, event coordination and documentation.

Sandip hopes to one day make his own feature film or web series through which he can promote Nepal’s Culture, traditions and history to a worldwide audience. His expectations from this internship is to find like-visioned people to work with and gather intellectual tools in this journey that will help realize his future aspirations.
